Worship

St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church is an open-minded faith community whose members bring with them diverse understanding of the Christian life. Our worship, primarily the Eucharist, is informal yet ordered.   We change our liturgy across several Seasons, in concert with the Church calendar: Creation, Thanksgiving, Advent, Epiphany, Lent, Easter, and Pentecost.  We use alternative liturgies, incorporating elements of the New Zealand Prayer Book and other resources from within the Episcopal Church, other traditions, and from our own congregation.
We value thoughtful and challenging sermons, education for all ages, and an outstanding music program. We welcome children, young people, and adults. Our building mirrors our commitment to stewardship of God’s creation. Empowered by our shared worship and friendship, we serve God in the wider world.

Worship Committee
Established in January 2021, the Worship Committee stepped into the role of planning our worship services. The committee creates the Order of Worship for each Sunday service, using liturgical resources that included previous seasonal booklets from St. Bart’s as well as sources from around the Anglican Communion.  We change our liturgy seasonally following the church calendar, and currently while worshipping online are using a monthly rotation of services that include Eucharistic services, a Healing-oriented service, and a Service of the Word.  The Worship Committee coordinates with worship participants including our Priest-In-Charge,  Supply Clergy, the Pastoral Care Committee, and other parish volunteers to lead our services each week. We work closely with the tech team who does an amazing job making our vision for worship a reality! We welcome participation from anyone who is interested, and we are so grateful for the trust that has been placed in us to guide our continued worship together as a community.

We welcomed our new Priest-In-Charge Rev. Amanda Gerken-Nelson at the beginning of 2022.  Visit our
Clergy page to learn more about Amanda.  We are thrilled to have her lead our community.
