Follow the Rector's Lenten Blog
Walking Together This Lent In the past several weeks I’ve worked on pulling together a Lenten weekly gathering of some kind, but have discovered that many of our usual crowd are not able to be present for some large portion of this Lenten time. It’s been work to find a time when we can gather critical mass to do Adult Education, and this Lent seems to be more difficult than usual. So here’s what I propose: let’s read a book together. You can do this whether or not you’re in town for all the weeks of Lent. I will be reading and preaching from John O’Donohue’s book, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom (with some additional Celtic spirituality materials).
I invite you to join me in reading this book as our Lenten discipline. If there’s a group of people who would like to stay after church on any given Sunday to talk more about what we’re reading, just let me know and we’ll do that. I will post comments on the chapters as we move through them on my blog http://www.wickednifty.com/revnina/ and you’re welcome to join in online at any time. So there are several ways for us to share this journey – in person on Sundays as we walk in the wisdom of our Celtic ancestors in the faith, in small groups as people may choose to gather on Sundays to discuss the book, and online on my blog from anywhere this Lenten time may find you. The book: Celtic Spirituality and John O’Donohue’s book, Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom Available locally (call the fine folks at Royal River Books in Yarmouth and place an order: http://www.amazon.com/Anam-Cara-Book-Celtic-Wisdom/dp/006092943X Our Itinerary: Feb 21 - The Mystery of Friendship Feb 28 – Toward a Spirituality of the Senses March 7 – Solitude is Luminous March 14 – Work as a Poetics of Growth March 21- Aging: The Beauty of the Inner Harvest March 28 – Death: The Horizon is in the Well Looking forward to journeying together, Nina+ |
