Children and Youth

Young people are full members of the St. Bartholomew's community.

Younger children at St. Bart's progress through three different curriculums of Sunday School.

Children up through First grade follow a wonderful Montessori based program called Godly Play in which each week they hear the stories of the Bible told with small wooden figures and have an opportunity to wonder about themselves, God, and the world around them. It is a program designed to spark their imagination and foster creativity.

Children in the Second and Third grades follow a program based upon Godly Play methodology but incorporating deeper questions and multiple medias for exploring their spirituality and understanding Christian tradition.

Older children, in Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth grade, follow a curriculum titled Jesus and His Kingdom of Equals that allows them to both understand Jesus within a historical context through monthly lessons and to find ways to act upon His word through outreach in many forms.

Programs for youth beyond 6th grade are in the Youth Programs section of this site.
